solar panel verticalAll the new thermal power projects in India will have the obligation of installing solar panels on roof of the buildings, according to a mandate by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF). This was informed by Piyush Goyal, Minister for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy in Lok Sabha.
As per the directive of the MoEF, all the new thermal power projects built in the country will have to harness solar energy. The solar panels on the roof of the buildings will be installed as and when the buildings are constructed.
NTPC Ltd, India’s leading powr producer, has started installing solar rooftop systems on all its upcoming thermal power plant buildings. Goyal informed that NTPC will be fixing year-wise targets for the next three years after estimating potential of rooftop solar PV systems at its existing thermal power station buildings.
