Power crisis: Lights-out for billboards past 10 pm in Hyderabad

Power to all major billboards and hoardings in the twin cities will be shut off after 10 pm. That apart, 10 lakh property tax payers will be receiving a message from the GHMC to reduce power usage. Streetlights in city will also be re-installed with LED lights. 

Zonal deputy commissioners and senior officials of all the wings of GHMC plan to reduce the power consumption in all their offices. GHMC has directed all hoteliers in the city to co-operate and reduce power consumption as well. 

Somesh Kumar, the GHMC commissioner, in-structed the advertising agencies to cut off power after 10 pm to billboards and major hoardings. 

Mr Kumar said, “The Corporation has about 10 lakh phone numbers of tax and trade licence payers. GHMC will send messages to all of them to co-operate in saving power. Hoteliers across the state have assured their co-operation to reduce the power consumption in the coming 15 days.”
