Ready to buy power at Rs. 9 per unit: KTR

Cornered over the issue of severe power shortage in Telangana, IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K.T. Rama Rao, on Thursday said that their government was ready to buy power for Rs. 9.10 per unit if the need arose. Saying that they were doing their best to solve the power crisis, he chose to blame the previous regime for the present situation.
Mr. Rao was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony of Pratt & Whitney’s training facility at the GMR Airport campus. He also appealed to farmers to not resort to suicide as government initiatives would improve the situation by the middle of next year.

“We are expecting 600 MW of thermal power by July next year and we plan to add 400 MW more to it. We have received 108 bids for generating 500 MW of solar power,” he said.
